Xenoverse 2 takes place in the dragon ball universe. The popular anime series has seen many fighting games come out based in this universe. However few dragon ball games compare to the Xenoverse and the Xenoverse 2 titles. Dimps and Bandai Namco has seen great success in these games in sales and popularity being in the top 5 best sellers of the dragon ball games. Xenoverse 2 made its way to the Nintendo Switch console and to my surprise ran very well both online and offline. The dock for the switch will seam as if you are playing this on dedicated console or PC, and it performs well on the console itself without the dock. Xenoverse 2 just released its new free DLC further balancing combat abilities, adding a new character, and getting the story caught up with the Dragon Ball Super Broly movie.

Here is what to expect:

Xenoverse 1 and 2 will have you create your own character from one of the races from the show from earthing to alien. You will customize the appearance of your race and some minor combat characteristics of your character. You will be then put into a world as a time patroler whose job is to correct discrepancies with the history from the show. There are antagonists trying to alter the history from the TV show and you must thwart their efforts. You will encounter many familiar enemies and allies through your many fights and challenges through this game.

As you fight and improve your skills and travel through the leveling process you will feel your character get stronger and be able to clearly see your progress. Many changes will occur such as gaining access to your races transformation/ transformations. Transforming to a new form will give you a strategic advantage in certain situations and each race at least has one that will increase your stats as long as you are in that form.

The Online Experience:

When online you can group with friends or strangers to accomplish parallel quests that will challenge your skills and help you gain more power. You and your team will be presented a fight that you must together overcome your many enemies. There are also raid challenges where a large group of players will be heavily challenged with a very difficult enemy with unique abilities. You will need to outsmart the additional enemies and puzzles in time to assist your allies and return to the main battle at hand.

Alternatively to unique quests and grinding you can truly tests your skills against other players in PVP tournament matches in 1v1 or group attrition battles much like the tournament of power. Play as your character or one of the many characters from the tv show to throw off your opponent. Conton City is where you will be when you are not in battle. You will be able to get battle items, clothing customization, and many other intractable features. When online you can form groups and communicate over preset text.

DLC 9:

After reviewing the translated patch notes from Reddit most of this recent free DLC most of the contents is combat balancing. Many special and power moves were buffed or nerfed and there are too many to keep track of. Vegita’s god transformation was added as a playable character in battles as seen in the early fight with Broly from the new movie. Along with scenarios and parallel quests matching the story of the massive battle with Broly.
