Twilight Zone reboot adds Taissa Farmiga, Rhea Seehorn & more

Taissa Farmiga (The Mule), Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul), Luke Kirby (The Deuce), and Ike Barinholtz (The Oath) will all star in an upcoming episode of Jordan Peele’s The Twilight Zone reboot series for CBS All Access, Deadline has confirmed.

Character details have not yet been released for the episode the four will be starring in. The ensemble cast for the anthology series so far also includes John Cho, Sanaa Lathan, Kumail Nanjiani, Adam Scott, Allison Tolman, Greg Kinnear, DeWanda Wise, Jessica Williams, Steven Yeun, and Jacob Tremblay.

Previously it was announced that Peele will serve as the show’s new host, making him the third person to host the series. Previous versions were hosted by legendary writer/producer Rod Sterling for the original 1959-1964 version and Forest Whitaker for the 2002 version.

Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone series will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films. Jordan Peele, Simon Kinberg, and Marco Ramirez will serve as executive producers for the series and collaborate on the premiere episode. Win Rosenfeld and Audrey Chon will also serve as executive producers.

The original The Twilight Zone took viewers to another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. Created by Rod Serling, it was a journey into a wondrous land of imagination for five years on CBS, from 1959-1964. The godfather of sci-fi series, the show explored humanity’s hopes, despairs, prides and prejudices in metaphoric ways conventional drama could not. In 1983 Steven Spielberg produced a big budget anthology film version, Twilight Zone: The Movie, directed by Spielberg, John Landis, Joe Dante, and George Miller. The show was revived by CBS in the 1980s and ran for three seasons, helmed by the likes of William Friedkin, Atom Egoyan, and Wes Craven. It was revived again on UPN and hosted by Forest Whitaker in 2002 for one season. Another revival was attempted in 2012 with Bryan Singer (X-Men: Days of Future Past), who was to develop, executive produce and direct.

Get Your First Look At Season Six of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In New Teaser

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD season 6 teaser is here!

ABC has released the first teaser for the upcoming sixth season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, highlighting Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie’s struggles in his new role as director, as well as a potential mysterious return of Phil Coulson. Check it out in the player below!

RELATED: Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Wraps Season 6

The season five finale saw the team put a stop to Glenn Talbot, aka Graviton, but also saw longtime team leader Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) leave with Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) to return to Tahiti to live out his final days after his brief time as a Ghost Rider burned through the Kree DNA coursing through his body that healed his fatal injury from The Avengers. With Coulson finally going off to be officially dead, the agency is in need of a new director, with Mack taking over the reigns.

“Personally, I love the challenge of being the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Mack has worked side-by-side with the people he now leads, that works to his advantage….he’s one of them,” Henry Simmons said in an interview with TV Line. “But, the one thing that can hinder Mack’s ability to lead is his reluctance to put the people he loves in the line of danger. As a result, this may lead to Mack’s toughest decision as director…. What sacrifices will be made?”

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie, Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, John Hannah as Holden Radcliffe, Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse, Brett Dalton as Grant Ward, Luke Mitchell as Lincoln Campbell, and Nick Blood as Lance Hunter

The series was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.

Season six of Agents of SHIELD is set to debut sometime in summer 2019.

Sherri Saum joins Netflix’s Locke & Key

Sherri Saum has joined Connor Jessup (American Crime), Emilia Jones (Utopia), and Jackson Robert Scott (It) in the Netflix series Locke & Key, according to TVLine. The actress will play a teacher named Ellie Whedon, who carries a close connection with the Locke family. Saum’s notable credits include How to Get Away with Murder, Revenge, Gossip Girl, Rescue Me and One Life to Live.

Locke & Key is a horror/fantasy series that revolves around three siblings who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them.

The IDW Publishing Locke & Key comic book franchise, co-created by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, has garnered both awards and acclaim during its ten-year run; has been translated into dozens of languages across the globe; and has sold millions of copies worldwide.

Meredith Averill (The Good Wife) will co-showrun the series with Carlton Cuse. Cuse and series co-creator Joe Hill (the son of Stephen King) co-write the first episode with Aron Eli Coleite. The new series will not retain any of the cast or footage used from Hulu’s attempt at adapting the series, instead completely re-developing the series and re-casting the parts, except for IT‘s Jackson Robert Scott who will stay on from the Hulu version. The previous series’ pilot was directed by IT‘s Andy Muschietti.

Lindsey Springer for Cuse’s production company Genre Arts will executive produce alongside David Alpert and Rick Jacobs of Circle of Confusion. Andy and Barbara Muschietti (IT, Mama) will executive produce alongside Ted Adams and David Ozer from IDW Entertainment.

Locke & Key has had a long history of making it to another medium with Dimension Films purchasing the rights in 2008. Following that, a television series was in development at FOX in 2010 (which was even given a series order, but never went forward after the pilot was produced), and finally a failed film adaptation with producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci in 2014 with Universal Pictures. The failed pilot by Hulu is just the most recent link in the series’ attempts to come to life.
