13 February 2019
With Year 4 about to start, Rainbow Six Siege is making a push to make it easier than ever for new players to enter the community. Ubisoft announced on February 12th some changes to their Game Editions for the launch of Year 4.
Some of the new changes:
On February 12th, Ubisoft will be removing the PC Starter Edition for a new entry base game. The new base game improves the progression system which converts unlocking the Operators back to the original base game rate. Ubisoft states this will save players up to 150 hours of gameplay to get the Operators they want. For active members, all current Starter Edition owners will be granted an automatic upgrade to the new base game. Starter Edition players will now unlock Operators at a normal pace and follow the original Renown cost. *All progression and content previously unlocked WILL be carried over.
For new players and Starter Edition owners who have been upgraded to the base game, they will see the progression system for unlocking the original 20 Legacy Operators return. Legacy Operators will cost 500, 1000, 1500, and 2000 Renown (based on how many Operators from a specific CTU you have unlocked).
The new PC standard version, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, will be available at digital retailers for $19.99
Ubisoft will also be upgrading the content of all premium editions and dropping the price across the board.
- The new Deluxe Edition will instantly expand your starting roster by integrating the base game and the eight Year 1 Operators.
- The Gold Edition will include the Deluxe Content plus the Year 4 Pass, which includes instant early VIP access to all eight Year 4 Operators + 600 R6 Credits + 10% shop discount
- The Ultimate Edition (replaces the former Complete Edition) gets you instant access to all the DLC Operators from Years 1, 2, 3, available to date, as well as a Year 4 Pass
To celebrate the launch of Year 4 and the new editions, all versions of the game will have an introductory discount for up to 70% for a limited time.
