Pottery Barn’s PlayStation furniture is the new high-end gamer-chic

Pottery Barn has dabbled in more traditional (read: expensive) gaming accessories. It now offers a complete line of PlayStation-themed furniture. The full set, which includes a media center, coffee table, and a beanbag chair, will set you back more than $2,000, or slightly more than five brand new PS4 Pro consoles with five copies of Red Dead Redemption 2.

The centerpiece of the ensemble, which is featured on the PBteen-branded website, is called the Gaming Media Console. Images from Pottery Barn indicate that it features detailing similar to the buttons on the DualShock series of controllers.

The main feature of the set is its central trolley, which is free-floating and set on four black caster wheels. The PS4 and its accessories sit on top, and the whole kludge rolls out to allow access to the cables behind it. Otherwise, it’s a pretty straightforward credenza made entirely of medium density fiberboard (MDF), a slightly stronger version of plywood. It retails for $1,099.

There’s also a “Lounge Table.” It’s a coffee table with drawers. It costs $399.

Aside from the $249 black-and-gray beanbag chair, the two items that might interest PlayStation fans are a light-up sign and a shelf.

The Icon Wall Light Inspired by PlayStation runs $199. The 36-inch-wide, 12-inch-high sign is LED-powered and sits a full inch off the wall. If Uncle Floyd can have a Schlitz sign in the garage, then I could certainly have one of these. But I’m not so sure I need it in the living room.

What I would enjoy, however, is a pair of the Acrylic Cubby Inspired by PlayStation. Each $69 unit holds up to eight PlayStation games for the gods and everyone else to see through a cleverly designed clear plastic enclosure. There’s also a hanger on the bottom for your wireless headphones, which is about as classy as you can get strapping headphones to your wall.

“Plus,” writes the Pottery Barn copywriter, “the bonus ledge is perfect for showcasing your most-prized collectibles.”

I reckon you could fit maybe, like, two amiibo up there on each one. So, four Luigis. Perfect.
