News: Twin Mirror delayed until next year and Epic Games Store exclusive on PC

VideoGamer.com –

Developer Dontnod has announced that Twin Mirror, its upcoming psychological horror game, has been delayed until 2020, and it will be an Epic Games Store exclusive for a year.

The French developer, who is famous for its Life is Strange games, gave reasons for the decision in a press release, saying, ‘In order to optimize the gaming experience and capitalize on Twin Mirror’s success potential, DONTNOD Entertainment has decided to extend the development phase and reschedule release for 2020.’

‘Capitalize on Twin Mirror’s success potential’ is a very strange sentence indeed, and it’s not clear quite what it means. What is clear is that the Epic Games Store is becoming an increasingly popular platform for developers financially.

‘The financial terms of this partnership ensure a more advantageous distribution of revenues for DONTNOD,’ it was stated in the press release, along with the news that Twin Mirror would remain an Epic Games Store Exclusive for a 12-month period.

Chairman and chief executive officer of Dontnod Oskar Guilbert said, ‘This strategic operation demonstrates our ability to leverage new market trends in our favor. The video game industry is currently undergoing major transformation and now offers a major competitive advantage to content creators such as DONTNOD.’

Twin Mirror is scheduled for a 2020 release, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. I played it and it was quite brilliantly bad.
